Mamagum is a barangay in the municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND), in the province of Lanao del Norte (LDN). It is known for its Agricultural abundance in rice and other vegetable crops.
According to Mamagum Punong Barangay Aqueles Tingcang, the barangay is having difficulty in transporting their crops for distribution. This is because of the lack of local access road which connects from their farm to the nearby municipalities in SND.
However, with the need to earn money for a living, some would dare walk hundreds of kilometers of this road less traveled. Others also say that due to the impassable road, it causes the delay of crop distribution which eventually leads to spoilage of the crops.
The national government, through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 granted Barangay Mamagum, SND as one of the beneficiaries of the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF 2019) Farm to Market Road.
This was an incentive given to LGUs who passed the criteria of the “Seal of Good Governance” and recognized for exhibiting good performance particularly in the adoption of “good housekeeping”.
“Ang among mag uuma dili na mag lisud sa paghatod sa ilang produkto tungod aning bag-ong dalan nga gihatag sa amo sa gobyerno,” said Tingcang. (DILG 10/PDMU/Merryane Rose S. Bacud)
