March 4, 2021 – The Department through Memorandum Circular No. 2018-105 has granted Php5,000,000.00 to the City of Cagayan de Oro for the construction of halfway house for our former rebels.

The halfway house will serve as a venue in conducting rehabilitation and healing sessions, education and skills training activities. The first out of three phases of its operationalization has been completed last August 25, 2020 which is composed of the Structural works on the Main building, Mess Hall, Training Center, Receiving Area (Lobby), Admin Office and Comfort Room. The second phase started on January 7, 2021 which consists of the installation of doors, glass windows, tile works, ceiling and lighting installation and electrical works.

The full completion of the halfway house did not stop the ECLIP Committee Secretariat in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in continuing their efforts in providing assistance through provision of Peanut Production skills training to our former rebels and their families. The halfway house was also maximized during DSWD’s distribution of Sleeping Kits, celebration of the IP Month, and profiling for NHA Housing.

The line list of Community-Based Livelihood Skills training set for our FRs includes Furniture Making, General Handicraft, Rag Making and Slipper Making. The Halfway House is set to be at full operation within the year. (DILG 10/[Cagayan de Oro City]/[LGOO Q-Siao])
