REGION 10 IPS, YOUTH, OTHER
SECTORS DENOUNCE CPP-NPA’S ACTS OF VIOLENCE, ATROCITIES

People from all walks of life, including the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and the youth in Northern Mindanao, are as one in denouncing all forms of violence, terrorism, and atrocities as they gather for an Indignation Rally yesterday, December 26.

This is to condemn the atrocities of the Communist Party of the Philippines- New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) as well as to support ending local communist armed conflict in the country.

“This is a rally for peace and we feel honored that different sectors and groups from Region 10 are as one with us in this purpose,” said DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe. “Thus, we have the public with us in the implementation of Executive Order 70 or the Whole-of-Nation Approach in ending local communist armed conflict.”

According to him, people will never be silent anymore in supporting peace and development building initiatives of the present administration.

As of press time, the government is currently gearing up its efforts in operationalizing EO 70. This addresses the root causes of insurgencies and other armed conflicts and threats by prioritizing and harmonizing the delivery of basic services and social development packages of the government.

Following a “Whole-of-Nation Approach”, said Executive Order looks into facilitating societal inclusivity, and ensures active participation of all sectors of the society in the pursuit of country’s peace agenda.

“As the CPP-NPA commemorated its 51st anniversary yesterday, we are looking forward that this insurgency problem will finally be put to an end already,” Agabe said.

The Indignation Rally served as a platform to encourage more government and non-government stakeholders, including the private sector, to support initiatives and efforts towards lasting peace in the country.
