PDMU CAPACITATES
LGUS ON DED

The Project Development ang Management Unit (PDMU) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-10) capacitated various LGUs in the five-day training workshop on the preparation of the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for water of the Locally Funded Projects (LFP).

The workshop is one of the Department’s initiative to amplify its public service especially in the implementation of the different LFPs of the government.

Primarily, this was designed to train engineers in operating AutoCAD Civil3D program—a software used in the preparation of the DEDs drawings for water projects. Also, the workshop aims to train engineers on how to efficiently prepare the requirements given the growing projects in various LGUs in the region.

Further, DILG Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe recapped that the training workshop is an avenue for the engineers to enhance their knowledge and skills in the preparation of the essential requirements when handling projects.

“We would like that our local government units are already prepared especially our provincial engineering offices for the implementation of the Local Government Support Fund – Support for the Barangay Development Plan (LGSF-SBDP) […] we need to ensure that everyone is equipped in the preparation of the DED as well as the Program of Work,” he shared.

During the activity, various training modalities were provided to further intensify the course of the workshop. This includes lectures and audio-visual presentations, demonstration on the software, simulation exercises, workshops, presentations, and submission of the outputs.

Moreover, participants of the said activity were representatives from the Office of the Provincial/City/Municipal Engineer and P/C/M Planning Development Officer, being the in-charge of the DED. This undertaking was facilitated by the DILG-10 Regional and Provincial Engineers.

As of press time, the training workshop is still ongoing and will run from January 25-29 and February 8-11, 2021.
