Over 900 Locally Funded
Projects completed
Nine hundred twenty-one (921) Locally Funded Projects of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) 10 are now completed from year 2012, serving more communities in the region.
“It was challenging for all of us considering that the Department continually evolve into venturing and opening its doors to more programs and projects,” DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe expressed. “Demands as public servants are arising especially that our government pushes for exemplary service delivery.”
Despite these, DILG 10 was able to deliver and complete numerous projects since 2012.
For one, through the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA), the central program for peace and development to enhance socio-economic conditions in areas affected and vulnerable to armed conflict, sealed its program in 2016 with a total of 31 completed projects in Region 10.
Moreover, intended to serve the waterless communities, the Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) accomplished 107 projects in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
Another, a total of 177projects were completed through Local Government Source Fund (LGSF), serving as a fuel for LGUs to deliver basic services by providing financial subsidy for the implementation of their programs and projects.
Aside from PAMANA, SALINTUBIG and LGSF, RD Agabe said that DILG also paved way to the completion of numerous projects through Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) program, Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities Program (ADM), Assistance to Municipalities (AM), and Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).
“DILG 10 carried out the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) program from 2013 to 2016 with 401 projects implemented,” RD Agabe said. “This program looked into encouraging local communities’ participation in national budget formulation and budget implementation, which we deem as unquestionably beneficial to our constituents.”
Meanwhile, the ADM, administered to increase citizens’ access to basic facilities and ensure participation of civil society organizations, has accomplished 167 projects in Region 10.
After ADM’s transition to the Assistance to Municipalities (AM) Program in 2018, it has given away a total of 120 projects, which are targeted to be completed in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
Lastly, projects under PCF in the region has installed a total of 37 projects. PCF is an incentive system, attained through passing the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), designed to motivate LGUs to keep the bar high in quality service especially in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through good local governance.
“The DILG continues its pursuit in providing local government units technical assistance and guidance for the effective, efficient and fast completion of the locally funded projects,” said RD Agabe.
