The Regional Task Force to End Local Communists Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) – 10 Technical Working Group (TWG) meets for a small group discussion to tackle revitalized efforts to address the root causes of insurgencies and other armed conflicts and threats in Northern Mindanao, earlier today, May 31.

The meeting was attended by Major General Jose Maria Cuerpo II, Commander of the 4^th Infantry ‘Diamond’ Division (4ID), NEDA Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, and DILG Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko, who are the Chairperson and the Co-head Secretariats of the TWG, respectively.

Highlights of the meeting include ELCAC concerns on the appropriate steps to be taken next in the efficient implementation of EO 70 as it achieves its full-steam enforcement. Also discussed in the meeting was the election of the TWG Chair, following the retirement of former 4ID Commander Major General Wilbur Mamawag. The election will be chaired by RD Suyko.

Further, the meeting emphasized the need to continually empower the TWG to achieve inclusive and sustainable development and just and lasting peace in the region.
