NORMIN LGUs CONVENE TO ALIGN PLANS WITH PDP, SDG

With the national government’s effort of bringing the local development initiatives towards one direction, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 10 gathered the LGUs in the region to align their Comprehensive Development Plans (CDPs) with that of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) this week.

It is the president’s directive to monitor the LGUs’ compliance and contribution to the achievement of the PDP, thus the interface between the city/municipal government and the provincial government. The activity aims to evaluate if their priority programs, projects and activities (PPAs) are aligned with the result matrices (RMs) of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), Regional Development Plan (RDP) and consequently the PDP.

“We are all doing this for the bigger picture. We want to have a nation that is safe, progressive and has inclusive development for everyone, therefore our priorities should be in line with the things needed to happen,” said Regional Director Arnel Agabe of DILG Region 10.

The congregation is composed of local chief executives, Sanggunian Chair of Appropriations, local government officers and local planning officers.

The LGUs are also reoriented with the connection of development plans, budget preparations and resource utilizations through the help of other oversight line agencies – National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

In meeting the targets in the SDG, the United Nations decided to let communities develop ways that works best for them. In the country, this means that the local government units are at the forefront in achieving these goals. As RD Agabe said, it is the local level that provides the foundation of the country to move forward.
