MISOCC COUNCILS INSTITUTIONALIZE EO 70, ENDING INSURGENCY
OROQUIETA CITY, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL – Supporting the crusade towards ending local communist and armed conflict in the country, Misamis Occidental now institutionalizes Executive Order 70, or the “Whole-of-Nation” Approach.
This happened during the recent joint council meeting between the Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) yesterday, September 26 at the Provincial Capitol, Oroquieta City. The joint meeting was presided by Governor Philip Tan.
DILG Provincial Director Pablio Benitez, Jr. presented the salient features of Executive Order No. 70 and the guidelines issued to fast track its implementation (JMC No. 01-2019); and pointed out how the said order and the organization of a Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) would end insurgency through an inclusive, multi-stakeholder approach.
He also motioned for a resolution operationalizing EO 70 in the province of Misamis Occidental, creating the PTF-ELCAC and adopting the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDEV) as a strategy, framework, and mechanism for effective implementation. Subsequently, the said resolution was approved by the council members.
Other agendas tackled were the police operations relative to anti-illegal gambling campaigns in Misamis Occidental.
PNP Provincial Director Danildo Tumanda presented the updates of the police force’s efforts to contain and stop illegal operations from all corners in the province and acknowledged the support provided by the Provincial Government.
Council members also endorsed a memorandum of agreement between the Province and the reserve forces for the latter to take part in PDRRMC operations, for a more collaborative approach in disaster-preparedness and management.
The PADAC featured a comprehensive data on its efforts for a drug-cleared province. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) shared additional information to support the milestones of the PADAC.
