LANAO DEL NORTE PREPS FOR
BOL PLEBISCITE, DILG COMMITS IN ENSURING ITS PEACEFUL IMPLEMENTATION
As Province of Lanao del Norte intensifies its efforts in preparing for the upcoming Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) Plebiscite, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) committed in ensuring a peaceful and orderly plebiscite on February 6, 2019.
This is in line with the upcoming plebiscite which will determine whether or not the six (6) Lanao del Norte municipalities, namely, Balo-i, Pantar, Tagoloan, Tangcal, Munai and Nunungan, will be included in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
With the conduct of the Lanao del Norte Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on January 28, 2019 at the MCC Complex, Sagadan, Tubod of the said province, discussed were the updates on BOL Plebiscite and peace and order and security arrangements.
Representing DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año, DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe said, “We are enjoining our Local Chief Executives as a chair of their respective Municipal Peace and Order Councils to ensure that there will be complementary efforts with the national government and as well as to prepare for contingency plans.”
The Regional Director also reiterated that the SILG would like everyone to respect the result of the plebiscite that will be conducted hoping that despite being divided with their votes, they will still be united for Lanao del Norte afterwards.
“Help the national government explain to your constinutuents that there should be respect as to the decision and opinion of all the residents of Lanao del Norte,” he added.
Pursuant to RA 11054 and COMELEC rules and regulations, the BOL Plebiscite was already conducted last January 21, 2019 for the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
