INTENSIFYING DILG 10 COMMUNICATION ARM

In line with intensifying the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 communication arm, the Public Information Support Unit (PISU) commenced its first quarter face-to-face general assembly at the DILG Regional Office, Cagayan de Oro City.

With the advent of misinformation and disinformation, DILG 10 Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko emphasized, “We put a premium on upholding the people’s right to accurate, complete, timely, relevant, and understandable information. We also want to make sure that we are visible and accessible to the public we promised to serve.”

Hence, as the information officers of the department, PISU members undergo training workshops on videography, photojournalism, and graphic design. In order to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to combat misinformation and disinformation.

Creation of PISU

Previously, the department’s communication arm was called Communications and Information Committee (CIC) with the goal of RD Suyko to intensify what has been established in the region it is now called, Public Information Support Unit (PISU).

The formation of PISU aligns with Department’s objective to provide transparency, accuracy, and up-to-date information regarding its goals, initiatives, and projects for the public.

Rd Suyko also commends the top-performing PISU members and teams with having DILG Bukidnon and Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) for having the most materials produced. He also challenged other members to do better.

He believed that “You have brilliance in you and your contribution is valuable. We are all in this together and we need communication that reflects this.”

With these, the Regional Management is fully supporting the PISU Team. As such, this is one of the initiatives of the Local Government Regional Resource Center, to ensure that every member of PISU is knowledgeable and skilled enough to perform their duties.
