A total of 64 boxes with an estimated cost of Php600,000.00 comprising of packs of mixed firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices confiscated last December 2018 were destroyed through burning at an isolated place in Upper Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City on January 4, 2019.
By virtue of Executive Order No. 200-A series of 2018 issued by City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, the CDO Task Group Firecrackers, led by their Chair, City Director Jane J. Docallos of DILG conducted a meeting to determine the method of disposal on the seized firecrackers.
The items seized were found to have no Philippine Standard (PS) Mark. “If the item does not have the PS mark, then it’s not safe to use it,” CD Docallos said.
Members of the CDO Firecrackers Task Force were also present. Among them were from the PNP 10 with the RCSU and Firearms and Explosives Section, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB), the Office for Community Affairs and the City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).
The burning of the seized items started at around 5:10 in the afternoon and lasted for more than two hours.
