‘DISIPLINA MUNA’ ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED IN REGION 10

How can one person contribute in nation-building?

Aiming to activate the real concept of good governance where each one is aware of their roles in nation-building, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 launched the ‘Disiplina Muna’ Campaign on February 13, to promote the culture of discipline in Northern Mindanao.

Approximately 400 participants, composed of the Region’s local chief executives, regional line agencies, members of Regional Management Coordinating Committee, Civil Society Organizations, and the academe among others, expressed their commitment towards the success of the said advocacy.

In support, DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año graced the launching in Cagayan de Oro City, saying, “Towards the end of realizing our visions for this nation, we must ultimately recognize our individual roles in re-establishing the basic foundations of nation-building—and that is imbibing discipline.”

Thus, there should be a restart of instilling, developing and enhancing the necessary values, proper mindset and virtuous disposition in the citizens, he added.

Towards Behavioral Change

Disiplina Muna Advocacy will put premium on the DILG programs, projects, policies, and activities that shall serve as pillars of the said campaign.

These seven (7) pillars are the following: Road Clearing, Disaster Preparedness and Resilience, Anti-Smoking, Ease of Doing Business, Liquor Ban, Tourist Spots Cleanup, and Functional Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC).

With this, the Disiplina Muna Campaign enjoins the Local Chief Executives and heads of attached agencies to lead the campaign in their respective Local Government Units/attached agencies by undertaking relevant advocacy activities promoting the culture of discipline among their constituents, primarily based on the said pillars.

DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe encouraged the attendees to start emanating discipline in their own selves. “If we will be working together in ensuring that everyone will be disciplined, it is the general public who will be the primary beneficiaries of our efforts,” he added.

SILG Año said that with the launching of #DisiplinaMuna in key cities, the promise of a better and brighter Philippines is within our arm’s reach.

“I am very delighted that Region 10 followed suit, and is one of the pioneering regions across the country to launch this initiative,” he said.

Disiplina Muna Campaign is anchored on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 which aims to lay down the foundation for inclusive growth by ensuring people-centered governance towards Ambisyon Natin 2040 which envisions a matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay para sa lahat.  (DILG 10/LGOO II Rezza Mae B.
