DILG SPEARHEADS LOCAL ROAD MAPPING ACTIVITY
“If we have a program on the Assistance to Municipalities, we also have a project on the Assistance to Provinces.”
This was the statement of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe in his message during the follow-through activity on Local Road Mapping using the Unified Mapping Program (UMP) of NAMRIA on March 27- 29 at Hotel Koresco, Cagayan de Oro City.
With the activity being under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) program, Regional Coordinator Rolando P. Daniot explained that CMGP is a partnership project of DILG, and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Through the three-day activity, select staff from the City Engineering Office, Municipal and City Planning and Development Office, and Municipal and Provincial Engineers of Misamis Oriental were equipped with additional input of the local functionaries on how to digitize map.
“Your presence here today is very critical so that your constituents will be able to avail the CMGP funds,” RD Agabe said that without the digitized maps, the local government units (LGUs) cannot avail the funding for their local road projects.
He also accentuated transparency among LGUs to prioritize the areas where these projects are highly needed.
“The reason why you are there in your positions is because you are relevant to the operations of your LGUs and this is also the very reason why you have to give back in a form of delivering your mandated function and responsibility.”
