DILG ROAD, EVAC CENTER PROJS TURNED OVER TO INITAO, MISOR
Municipal Evacuation Center in Barangay Jampason and concreted Balanaga, Sinalac Road is now officially turned over to Municipality of Initao, Mismis Oriental on January 30, 2019.
Said projects were funded through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipality (ADM) and Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) program in year 2016 and 2017 respectively.
“This is to congratulate the Municipality of Initao for the successful implementation of the BUB and ADM projects that the DILG entrusted to the municipality,” said DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe during the turn over ceremony held at the Evacuation Center.
As the DILG intensifies its efforts in disaster preparedness, the Regional Director underscored the importance of having Municipal Evacuation Center which could aid the community of Initao should disaster strike.
“You have a very good evacuation center,” said RD Agabe. “You have to sustain and maintain this one and one way could be by implementing evacuation center rules to those who will be using the vicinity.”
Michael, a resident of Initao and a father of three said, “We really need a good evacuation center because if we only use school classrooms, it would really be congested.”
He shared that with congested evacuation centers, he is afraid that his children would easily get sick considering its sanitation.
On the other hand, considering the remoteness of the area of the newly concreted Balanaga, Sinalac Road, RD Agabe said that this is one way of showing that the national government and local government unit also prioritizes the needs of the constituents coming from far-flung areas.
Sinalac Punong Barangay Mila C. Ubanan, one of the beneficiaries of the said project shared, “Dako ang pasalamat sa Barangay Sinalac sa dalan namo kay naghatag kini og kadasig sa mga mag-uuma kon diin ang ilang mga pananom, okay na kaayo dalahon sa habal-habal, dili na kaayo kini malata kay maayo naman ang dalan [With the concreting of the road, Barangay Sinalac is thankful with it as it gave an inspiration to our farmers. The smooth road enables them to pleasantly transport their perishable goods through motorcycles.”
She further hopes for more projects that could extend the newly concreted road.
“In behalf of the local government of Initao, we are grateful to DILG for providing programs and projects needed in our municipality. The completion of these projects are also made possible through the efforts of our Department Heads and involved barangays officials,” expressed Initao Mayor Enerito J. Acain, V.
