DILG, MISOCC PLGU FIGHT ILLICIT DRUG ABUSE WITH BIDA

CLARIN, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, JUNE 1 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Misamis Occidental, in partnership with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Misamis Occidental, called on participation from the local government units and national government units (LGU) during the Buha’y Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program rollout.

In his opening message, DILG Misamis Occidental Provincial Director Pablio L. Benitez, Jr., CESO V, underscored the crucial role of LGUs and other stakeholders in combating drug abuse within their respective localities.

“As public officials, I urge everyone to gear up as we take the frontlines in the war on drugs. Let this undertaking serve as a declaration of our genuine commitment to putting premium on the lives of our constituents from the devastating effects of illegal drugs,” PD Benitez said.

He emphasized the importance of promoting vigilance among constituents and actively engaging them in the prevention and reporting of drug-related activities to create a safer and drug-free environment in the province.

The activity was graced by Governor, Atty. Henry S. Oaminal, and featured resource speakers who shared their expertise and insights on the issue of illegal drug abuse. LGOO VII Sanivier G. Patoc of DILG Misamis Occidental, IA III Elvis M. Taghoy, Jr. of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Misamis Occidental, PMaj Roland I. Donor of the Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office, and Atty. Sherry L. Pepito of the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Misamis Occidental all delivered informative presentations and interactive discussions during the program.

The BIDA Program is a comprehensive advocacy that continually elevates the awareness of the constituents on the perils associated with illicit drugs while promoting active involvement from all segments of the community. Through enhanced collaboration and cooperation among diverse stakeholders, the program strives to effectively champion the reduction of drug demand across the entirety of Misamis Occidental. (DILGMisOcc / Bill C.
