DILG, MIS OCC LGUS
PREP FOR 2019 SGLG
OROQUIETA CITY –DILG Misamis Occidental Provincial Office convened its field officers and local government units’ focal persons for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Program Review and Consultation on Tuesday, February 12 to prepare for the upcoming assessment from March to May 2019.
Changes and retentions in the 2018 indicators were presented with proposed upgrades to be used as the official 2019 SGLG criteria. Provincial Director, Pablio Benitez, Jr. mandates thorough participation of the DILG City and Municipal Local Government Operations Officers together with their counterparts and local chief executives from Misamis Occidental LGUs.
“Do your part to ensure your LGUs will be conferred with the SGLG. The Department is more than willing to direct its resources and knowledge to LGUs who will help themselves,” PD Benitez told attending officers.
A notable drop in the number of awardees has been cited at the national level, from 448 in 2017 to only 263 LGU recipients for 2018. The municipality of Bonifacio is the only awardee in the province last year.
WHY SGLG?
The SGLG is the government’s recognition for outstanding LGUs who have performed exemplary service delivery to its constituents by fulfillment all seven aspects of local governance:
· Financial administration
· Disaster preparedness
· Social protection
· Peace and order
· Business friendliness and competitiveness
· Environmental protection
· Tourism, culture and arts
Upon awarding and recognition, recipient LGUs are qualified for incentives from the DILG such as the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) program that can be used to fund their priority projects.
