DILG MIS OCC KICKS OFF
GOVERNANCE TRANSITION PROCESS

OROQUIETA CITY – Department of the Interior and Local Government-Misamis Occidental organized the meeting between the transition teams of governor-elect Philip Tan and outgoing Misamis Occidental governor, Herminia Ramiro. Both parties convened to discuss the turnover of transactions, documents, and governance reports, Monday at the Provincial Capitol. 

Per the provisions of DILG Memorandum Circular 2019-039 (creation of Local Governance Transition Teams), a smooth transaction after the midterm elections is required among all local government units to “ensure the continuity of local governance”.  DILG Provincial Director Pablio Benitez, Jr. facilitated the meeting with the teams. 

The department strongly implements the transparent and complete turnover of data and other relevant information to bring continuous progress for the benefit of the people in Misamis Occidental,” said Provincial Director Benitez to the team members.

The incoming transition team, headed by Tangub City vice mayor, Edemar Alota were provided with information from the planning, administrative, engineering, social welfare, health and other concerned offices and units in the Capitol through their counterparts headed by Provincial Planning Officer Teresa Calamba. Both teams agreed on the timelines to complete the needed documents prior to the formal turnover between Ramiro and Tan to be scheduled on or before June 30, 2019.

The said memorandum applies to all provincial, city, and municipal offices after the Midterm Elections last May. The DILG is tasked with monitoring and reporting all transition activities, and sanctioning of non-complying LGUs.
