DILG, GOV’T AGENCIES JOIN CANCER AND HEART AWARENESS MONTH CELEBRATION
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, February 24 – The Department of Health – Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (CHD-NM), together with its collaborating agencies, successfully hosted a significant health awareness event aimed at enhancing community understanding of cancer and heart health.
Participants had access to a variety of free health services, including consultations, blood pressure monitoring, random blood sugar testing, nutrition assessments, breast self-examinations, cervical cancer screenings, and ECG checks.
The event commenced with a warm welcome message from Director IV Sulpicio Henry M. Legaspi Jr., MD, MPH, FPSMS, CESO IV. Two notable lectures were conducted during the program: a Cervical Cancer Lecture by Dr. Divina Ghea M. Carillo and a Breast Cancer Lecture presented by Dr. Bernadette Marie Q. Dy-Olaer. Additionally, Jonathan Asunto shared his personal testimony on heart health, emphasizing the importance of prevention and comprehensive care.
Participants were also engaged in hands-on training sessions to learn vital life-saving techniques, further illustrating the event’s commitment to health education. The event concluded with positive feedback from participants who expressed gratitude for the information and services provided, highlighting the ongoing effort to promote health education and early diagnosis within the region.
