To further improve the capacity development Program for Newly-Elected Officials (Program for NEOs), Department of the Interior Local Government 10 conducted an orientation for member agencies of the Multi-Sectoral Advisory Committee (MSAC) at its regional office on June 20, 2019.

With the participation of representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), National Economic Development Authority 10 (NEDA 10), Department of Budget and Management (DBM 10), Xavier University (XU), Capitol University (CU), and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), DILG 10 sought to synergize improvements on the NEO modules for it to become more responsive to the needs of newly-elected officials.

Discussions on Executive Order No. 70 series of 2018 or the Whole-of-Nation Approach, Budgeting and Procurement, Ambisyon 2040 and Community Support Program will be integrated in the training through the involvement of the AFP and line agencies.

A series of orientation courses under the second component of NEO or
“Priming Leaders for Effective Local Governance” for governors, city mayors, and newly-minted municipal mayors of the Sanggunian will be facilitated by the Local Government Academy in July 2019.

At the end of the three-day basic orientation, said officials are expected to craft their first 100 Days Plan, and the Executive Agenda which will serve as roadmap for the first three years.

This will be followed by a regionally-managed training in Cagayan de Oro City for re-elected municipal mayors, vice governors, vice mayors, provincial board members, and local sanggunian.

The Program for NEOs is a continuing intervention of the DILG through the Local Government Academy that aims to equip NEOs with necessary competencies to carry out their mandates, and towards leading peaceful, resilient, and quality life for Filipinos.
