DILG-10 TO LGUS: ENACT ORDINANCES COMPLIANT WITH EODB ACT

As the country’s economy copes from the ill-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, local government units (LGUs) in Region 10 are enjoined to review and repeal irrelevant policies to ease business and non-business transactions.

In support to the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-10) spearheaded the conduct of the Roll Out on the Repeal of Policies for select LGUs in the region on January 19 via video teleconferencing.

“As we shift to the new normal, LGUs should actively address the economic impact of the pandemic by initiating recovery efforts and by being investor-friendly,” said DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe.

“By reviewing your business and non-business related local ordinances, and amending them as necessary, you can contribute to the revival of our economy,” he added.

The activity apprised the LGUs with the concepts and theories of the regulatory reform. They were also trained on how to operationalize the Regulatory Reform Information System in order to deliver the best service to the public.

Part of the National Action Plan (NAP) Phase III against COVID-19 is to manage the health risks while opening the economy.

“You (LGUs) must be innovative and sensitive with your policies and procedures to ensure that more businesses are encouraged to operate and do business in your localities,” said RD Agabe.

Participants of the said activity are the concerned personnel from the municipalities of Don Carlos, Manolo Fortich, Quezon, all from the Province of Bukidnon, municipalities of Alubijid, Laguindingan, Tagoloan, and Villanueva from the Province of Misamis Oriental.
