DILG-10 STRENGTHENS ISO INTERNAL AUDITORS’ COMPETENCE

To strengthen the internal auditing principles in ISO 9001:2015 and in preparation for the recertification, an Orientation/ Reorientation for the Regional Internal Quality Auditors (RIQA), Quality Management System (QMS) Secretariat and Regional Process Owners of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-10 (DILG-10) was conducted last January 27 – 29, 2021 via Zoom online platform.

Ms. Cynthia R. Ramirez, ISO Consultant and Trainer, acted as the resource speaker for the three (3)-day activity. She imparted her knowledge on Effective Internal Auditing ISO 9001:2015 based on ISO 19011:2018 and Effective Internal Quality Audit Report Writing.

“We want to operate things on how it should be, not just for compliance.  Let us be equipped and let us be competent. There is always room for critique. There is always room to develop ourselves. Let us work on our competency because if we are not competent, we will not stabilize everything and we will not reach the result and outcome that we achieved,” Assistant Regional Director Yvette Tolentino Sunga emphasized on her closing remarks.

The two-day Effective Internal Auditing ISO 9001:2015 based on ISO 19011:2018 was focused on understanding the concepts and principles of risk-based auditing based on ISO 19011:2018, and planning, conducting, and reporting Internal Audits based on 9001:2015 requirements.

Meanwhile, the one-day Effective Internal Quality Audit Report Writing focused on writing an effective ISO 9001:2015 QMS Internal audit reports.

Ms. Ramirez’s final reminders to the auditors were to be effective, efficient and demonstrate competence. She also added that auditors should adhere and be consistent with the audit principles done with due care and responsibility, integrity, and fact- and evidenced-based.
