DILG 10 recognizes LGU effort to protect children, women; maintain peace, order

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Oct. 16 — As part of the Local Government Code Celebration, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – 10 recognized local government units (LGUs) who showcased outstanding performances in maintaining peace and order and empowering the rights of women and children in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

The award was given during the Department’s Festival of Local Excellence, which give due recognition to Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women (LCAT-VAWC), and Peace and Order Councils (POCs).

In the LCAT-VAWC assessment, the Provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental garnered an ideal functionality or a percentage score of 94.5 percent, 103 percent, 84.3 percent, 99 percent, and 95.5 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, for the LCPC, the Provinces of Camiguin and Misamis Occidental garnered an ideal functionality or a percentage score of 97.71 percent and 81.87 percent, respectively.

Recognizing the crucial role of sub-national POCs in the implementation and maintenance of peace and order and public safety, the Department also gave recognition to performing and functional POCs who were assessed on their performance based on various sets of critera.

The provinces of Bukidnon with a functionality percentage of 98.79 percent, Camiguin (100), Lanao del Norte (98.71), Misamis Occidental (100), Misamis Oriental (100), and Cities of Cagayan de Oro (98.25) and Iligan (92.83)

Police Regional Office (PRO) – 10 Regional Director PBGen Ricardo G Layug, Jr., represented by “insert name here”, call on everyone’s cooperation and unified efforts for peace and progress towards a prosperous and progressive society.

“As we render our services to the Mindanaoan through serbisyong nagkakaisa, we need the support and cooperation of our partners in local government units, stakeholders and the community with the immense responsibility of ensuring safety and security of our people,” he said.

DILG 10 Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko, CESO IV, thanked the partners from the national government agencies and civil society organizations (CSOs) for the concerted efforts displayed during the conduct of functionality assessments.

“Your presence ensures the integrity of the assessment process and results. This wouldn’t be a success without your expertise and recommendations to further strengthen the mechanisms of our POCs, LCAT-VAWCs, and LCPCs,” he expressed.

Partner agencies who served as the Regional Assessment Team (RAT) for the LCAT-VAWC, LCPC, and POC were from the DSWD, DOJ, PNP, Balaod Mindanaw, NEDA, DepEd, National Nutrition Council (NNC), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), PIA, BJMP, BFP, and PDEA. (DILG ORD / M. Bacud)
