DILG 10 PISU ‘VIRTUAL KAMUSTAHAN’ STRENGTHENS COMMUNICATION EFFORTS WITH MEMBERS












CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, March 24 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10 reinforced its commitment to effective and transparent public communication by convening its Public Information Support Unit (PISU) for a virtual “Kamustahan” on Monday.
The quarterly gathering served as a platform to strengthen internal coordination among PISU members and provided an opportunity to harmonize guidelines, clarify concerns, and align activities for the year ahead, in line with the directives of DILG 10 Regional Director Bruce A. Colao.
Subsequently, Regional Information Officer Merryane Rose S. Bacud presented the PISU 2025 General Plan of Activities and suggested deliverables, emphasizing the importance of proactive engagement and feedback from members to refine strategies.
Alternate RIO Ronnel Benjo B. Cabahug then discussed field visit protocols, ensuring participants were well-prepared for upcoming engagements. LGOO IV and Chief of Staff Abulcair D. Lindao also reiterated DILG Circular No. 2021-16 on standardized formats for official documents, emphasizing consistency to maintain professionalism and clarity in all correspondences.
In her welcome message, Assistant Regional Director Yvette Tolentino Sunga underscored the vital role of PISU members, not only in disseminating accurate information but also in fostering public trust, transparency, and accountability in government service.
ARD Sunga further highlighted that PISU members not only inform but also strengthen the connection between the government and the public.
“A government information officer serves as the bridge between the institution and the people it serves, ensuring that communication is clear, accessible, and responsible,” ARD Sunga said.
Through the virtual ‘Kamustahan’,. DILG 10 reaffirms its commitment to equipping its designated information officers with the necessary guidance to enhance public communication and engagement.
