CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, FEB. 2 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10 has officially broken ground on its new Regional Resource Training Center in Northern Mindanao, marking the transition from plans approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to physical reality.
The three-story training center will serve as a hub for various DILG activities, including training sessions, seminars, and the Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) Apprenticeship Program. It is also expected to enhance the Department’s capacity to support local government units (LGUs) and contribute to the development of safe, inclusive, and resilient communities in the region.
Undersecretary for Local Government (USLG) Marlo L. Iringan, CESO III, graced the ceremony, along with DILG 10 Officer-in-Charge Yvette Tolentino Sunga, CESO V, and other top officials and regional office staff.
Usec. Iringan emphasized that the completion of the project will stand as a testament to DILG’s commitment to strong and capable leadership in good governance. He underscored that the training center will not only be a place of learning but also a space for transformation.
“More than just infrastructure, this center represents the government’s genuine commitment to our local officials. Beyond being a physical space, it will serve as a lasting symbol of our dedication to excellence and public service,” he said.
Meanwhile, OIC Sunga highlighted that establishing the training center is a significant step in strengthening local government training and capacity-building efforts in the region.
The facility will feature a 100-capacity function room, a lecture hall, dormitory accommodations for 100 trainees, a roof deck for outdoor activities, a parking area, an elevator, and a backup generator—ensuring a modern, accessible, and well-equipped venue for training programs.
The training center is expected to be completed within 18 months from that start of its construction.
