DILG BUKIDNON EYES ON SETTLING LAND CONFLICTS, CONDUCTS BUK ELCAC UPDATE MEETING

“We are hoping that through this meeting we are going to have agreements that may settle the existing land conflicts and to attain peace and order in Bukidnon.”

This was the statement of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bukidnon Provincial Director Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, as he facilitated the conduct of the Bukidnon Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (BUK TF-ELCAC) Update Meeting, April 15.

In coordination with the 88th Infantry Battalion and 403rd Brigade of the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Local Government Unit of Don Carlos with Mayor Ma. Victoria O. Pizarro, these concerned agencies and officials discussed the updates on the matters concerning the two (2) slayed indigenous people (IP) in the Municipality of Don Carlos.

Mr. Virgilio N. Batocail of DENR also presented the updates on the creation of the “One Map Initiative” during the meeting.

The One Map Initiative is a tool to be utilized as reference in order for the existing Ancestral Domains in the province to be easily identified.

With this, Mr. Milan C. Sambile of the NCIP added that the One Map Initiative should always be in sync with IP’s “panud” or the historical documentation of ancestral domains.

Said activity was conducted at Loiza’s Pavilion, Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay, Bukidnon.(DILG 10/DILG Bukidnon/Maria Cecille V. Nagac) (Revised Copy/DILG/ORD/Rezza Mae B. Tolinero)
