“God is merciful, because despite the pandemic, it did not hinder the Government from extending such helpful projects to us,” shared by Elgie Mandacayan, a resident and member of the Manobo tribe at Barangay Kapalaran, Dangcagan, Bukidnon. “We are grateful that we will no longer have to endure the muddy and slippery road when it rains. And we can easily sell our products, now that we will have proper roads. I would say we are no longer far from civilization.”
The Department of the Interior and Local Government in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, and Municipal Government of Dangcagan successfully organized the ceremonial groundbreaking of two local access road projects and one water supply system project worth P20M in total at Barangay Kapalaran, Dangcagan, Bukidnon on September 15.
The said projects are under the Local Government Support Fund – Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) an assistance initiated by the National Government through the institutionalization of Executive Order No. 70 or the whole-of-nation approach in ending local communist armed conflict in the country.
Gracing the event are Municipal Mayor Fruto Dandasan Jr, Provincial Administrator Atty. Jay Albarece, 72IB Commanding Officer LTC Jose Regonay Jr, DILG Bukidnon Provincial Director Engr. Carmelo Enrique Libot, Company Commander of 2nd Bukidnon Police Mobile Force Company Kapalaran PCol. Randy T. Anito, and Punong Barangay Brendo Balonquit.
“This event is historical because after a long, long time, our barangays will finally experience receiving funding from the National Government, especially those affected by the armed conflict with the NPA. What we are doing now is a result of the efforts made by various agencies, because it recognizes the struggle to give barangays a chance at development,” DILG Provincial Director Libot shared.
