BRGYS MAY RESCHEDULE CONDUCT OF BRGY. ASSEMBLY DAY– DILG 10
In the efforts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued an advisory on the need for the barangays to reschedule the conduct of their Barangay Assembly Day.
With this, barangays are advised to conduct said assembly within the First Semester of CY 2020 instead, when the obtaining situation is safe and feasible.
“Despite our desire to conduct a meaningful discussion among our respective barangays through the said assembly, the safety of our constituents is still our primary concern,” said DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe.
He explained that based on the DILG-issued advisory, some barangays, at the discretion of the concerned barangay and consultation and agreement by local health authorities, may still proceed with the conduct of said activity as long as preventive and precautionary measures are put in place.
“With the arising concerns, should a barangay decide to conduct their Barangay Assembly already, they are directed to tackle the nature of COVID-19, including its ways of transmission, signs and symptoms, and precautionary measures,” RD Agabe added.
Precautionary measures include regular handwashing, maintaining healthy lifestyles, ensuring food safety and consulting a physician when symptoms attributable to respiratory infection persist—all of these should also be discussed during the said assembly.
Rescheduling of the conduct of Barangay Assembly Days is in response to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s declaration of “State of Public Health Emergency”, pursuant to Proclamation No. 922 S. 2020.
