306 BARANGAY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS SECURE FUNDING, DBM ISSUES SARO, NCA

Three hundred six (306) new development projects of the conflict-affected barangays will now be materialized since the release of the special allotment and release order (SARO) and notice of cash allotment (NCA) by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on April 22.

The issuance will signal the release of over 2-billion in funds for one hundred nineteen (119) projects identified under the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Local Government Support Fund – Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) for the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental.

The release of funding came after the completion of the documentary requirements collected from the beneficiary barangays and these were sent for assessment to the Project Technical Assessment Team (PTAT) composed of member agencies such as the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), among others. The approved list is then forwarded to DBM through the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF ELCAC) for endorsement.

The province of Bukidnon is expected to complete 160 projects in 71 barangays; Misamis Occidental has 22 projects in 11 barangays; and Misamis Oriental has 124 projects in 37 barangays. Projects to be implemented are infrastructure projects such as farm-to-market road, water and sanitation system, school building, project minimum standards for health station, rural electrification, and housing; and non-infrastructure projects such as agricultural, livelihood and technical vocational training, and assistance to indigent individuals and families.

The DILG 10 will continue to provide technical assistance and monitoring during the implementation of the said projects in all three provinces, and work closely with the barangays to ensure progress and sustainability. (DILG 10/ LGCDD /Jess A. Batoon) (Revised copy/DILG-10/Jia Artajo)
