156 firearms surrendered—PNP Villanueva reports
Philippine National Police (PNP) of Villanueva showcased the outcome and accomplishments of their “Oplan Katok”, which include the surrender and collection of 156 firearms which will be released to owners upon completion of the required documents.
This was revealed during the press conference on April 29, 2019 at the VNC Hall, PNP Provincial Headquarters, San Martin, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
Policemen conduct house visits to gun owners with expired licenses, and advise them to renew it. Should owners choose not to renew, firearms should be surrendered instead and they will be issued acknowledgement receipt with the assurance that their firearms will be returned to owner after election, once the license is renewed.
PNP Misamis Oriental Provincial Director PCOL Rolando Destura emphasized that “Oplan Katok” campaign is in support to Comelec’s IRR on Gun Ban in partnership with the PNP, AFP and DILG during election period, a campaign against loose firearms. It covers the election period from May 13-June 12, 2019.
Awards were given to the top 3 outstanding Chief of Police:
- PCT Col Rhandy Anito – El Salvador City PS (33 firearms surrendered)
- PCAPt Dennis Ebsolo – Jasaan MPS (24 firearms surrendered)
- PCAP Arlyne Ranario – Initao MPS has (16 firearms surrendered)
The event, facilitated by P. Col. Destura, was attended by PNP Regional Director PBGEN Timoteo G. Pacleb, Provincial Election Supervisor, PD of Comelec Atty. Aleli Ramirez, DILG LGOO II Rey S. Omac, representing OIC PD Engr. Marisia C. Naybe, and different media entities.
