119 ELCAC BARANGAYS TO IMPLEMENT PLANS, PROGRAMS THROUGH LGSF-SBDP

With the approval of the Republic Act 11518, otherwise known as the FY 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) puts the ‘Whole-of-Nation’ approach on ending local communist armed conflict at the edge of achieving its targeted end state.

The GAA 2021 carries the allocation of P16.44B for the Local Government Support Fund – Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) intended for the realization of the conflict-free barangays’ plans and programs.

Relative to the fulfillment of such barangay plans and programs, the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) is tasked to evaluate the request for funding of the 119 identified priority barangays in the region.

To ensure smooth implementation of the program, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 conducted an organizational meeting last week.

During the meeting, the Project Technical Assessment Team (PTAT) was established – DILG as the head while the member agencies are composed of the following: National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Philippine Army (1ID & 4ID), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Technical Education
and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

The PTAT will serve as technical support to the RTF–ELCAC in the evaluation of the funding requests from the priority barangays.  They will also ensure that all projects are supported with the necessary and required documents prior the RTF-ELCAC’s endorsement to the DBM Central Office. (DILG 10/LGCDD-RPCT/Roque Salvo) (Revised copy/DILG10/Princess Jia Andriza Artajo)
