BALINGASAG, Misamis Oriental, June 29 — More than 8,700 residents in four barangays of Balingasag are expected to benefit from improved access to safe and reliable potable water following the groundbreaking of the ₱30-million Bulk Water Supply Project under the FY 2024 Local Government Support Fund – Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU).
The said water supply project will serve the barangays of Samay, San Juan, Linabu, and Blanco through the establishment of a sustainable water system that will provide communities with safe and reliable potable water.
The construction of the Level II Water Supply System officially commenced following the groundbreaking and capsule-laying ceremony on June 29, 2026.
The ceremony was attended by DILG 10 Regional Director Bruce A. Colao, CESO V; DILG Misamis Oriental Provincial Director Engr. Marisia C. Naybe; Misamis Oriental Governor Juliette T. Uy; Balingasag Municipal Mayor Atty. Alexis S. Quina; Mr. Lancelot Lagbas, Representative of Hon. Atty. Jennifer “Karen” A. Lagbas, District Representative of the First District of Misamis Oriental; members of the Sangguniang Bayan; barangay officials; and residents of the beneficiary barangays.
In his message, Regional Director Colao urged the beneficiary communities to extend their full cooperation throughout the project’s implementation. RD Colao emphasized that the support of residents and local officials is essential to ensuring its timely completion and the prompt delivery of safe and reliable water services.
Through the LGSF-FALGU Program, the Department and Regional Office provide technical supervision, monitoring, and evaluation to help ensure the timely and quality implementation of local infrastructure projects in accordance with national standards and government guidelines.
Upon completion, the project is expected to strengthen water security, improve access to safe and reliable potable water, and enhance the quality of life of residents in the beneficiary barangays.
