Cagayan de Oro City, September 9-10, 2026 | The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region X, through its Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), successfully conducted the second batch of the training on โEnhancing Structural Safety Awareness, Construction Monitoring, and Risk-Based Infrastructure Evaluation for Local Government Projects.โ
The two-day activity gathered participants from the municipalities and cities of the Provinces of Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, with the aim of enhancing their technical knowledge and practical competencies in structural safety assessment, construction monitoring, and risk-based evaluation of local government infrastructure projects.
In his message, Dir. Alfonso A. Maralli, Jr., CESO IV, Director of the Office of Project Development Services (OPDS), highlighted the vital role of engineers and technical personnel in safeguarding the quality, integrity, and safety of public infrastructure.
Dir. Maralli emphasized that infrastructure is among the most visible manifestations of government service, with every project representing public resources entrusted to address community needs and improve the quality of life of the people. He further underscored that technical personnel, as public servants, have the responsibility to ensure that infrastructure projects are not only implemented efficiently and completed as intended, but are also structurally sound, safe, and deserving of the trust and confidence of the communities they serve.
Through technical discussions and practical learning sessions, the activity seeks to strengthen the capacity of LGUs to identify construction and structural issues, evaluate potential risks, and ensure that locally implemented infrastructure projects adhere to applicable engineering standards while promoting the safety, quality, and sustainability of public infrastructure.
