DILG Lanao del Norte, cognizant of the need to strengthen the Anti-Drug Abuse Councils, along with DILG Iligan conducted a 3-day Training and Orientation on Strengthening Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (ADACs) at Elena Tower Inn, Iligan City last August 1-3, 2018.

Representatives from Iligan’s City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) and the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) with one (1) representative from the 22 Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (MADACs) of the Province participated the activity.

PD Bruce A. Colao, CESO V delivered a message focusing on the need to strengthen the functionality of the ADACs as these bodies in the local government units are crucial in the success of the government’s efforts to rid the country and the communities from illegal drugs menace.

He explained that towards this end, data gathering and data banking for monitoring and for such other purposes become key factors that need to be undertaken.

Discussed during the 3-day activity are the functionalities of the Provincial, City, Municipal, and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils with ADAC Performance Audit.

Participants were also trained on Dangerous Drugs Board’s (DDB) Integrated Drug Monitoring and Reporting Information System (IDMRIS) including full hands-on exercises with the help of the Regional and Provincial ADAC IT focal personnel. 

Wrapping up the 3-day activity was MLGOO Alelie B. Palao of Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND) along with SND’s Chief of Police, PSI Omar M. Tago, sharing best practices of SND’s successful drive in its Barangay Drug Clearing Program. SND is considered a great contributor of the drug clearing program in the Province with its 13 barangays declared ‘drug free’ by PDEA’s Regional Oversight Committee.
