To determine the present level of capacity in the aspects of planning and implementation of local development projects, a municipal workshop was conducted on July 24, 2018 at Villa Paraiso Resort Apartelle, Mambajao, Camiguin.
“I encouraged the participants to be transparent because this will serve as guide for Regional Office and Central Office in designing capacity development activities to further enhance local governance,” said Rhona G. Pedraza-Abadilla, Provincial Director of DILG Camiguin, on her opening remarks.
Emily Ching-Popera, MLGOO of Sagay, Cluster Head and Provincial Assessment Team Lead Aministrator, on her Competency Assessment Tool Workshop, shared the importance of this workshop on self reflection as public servants. She expressed her gratitude towards the participants for sharing their time and effort.
Meanwhile, during the breakout sessions, MLGOOs assisted their respective LGUs on answering the competency assessment tool.
Attendees of the activity include the Municipal Governments’ key informants, which was composed of officers/personnel from local development project planning, procurement and contract management, project end-users or implementers, project managers/officers, legislative representative, business sector representative, NGO/CSO representative, Barangay Captain’s Representative; and DILG Camiguin, which was composed of the Provincial Director, MLGOOs, and Provincial Support Staff.
The activity is in line with the goal for the Local Government Units (LGUs) to transform local development plans into realities of poverty alleviation and ASEAN, if not, global competitiveness. With this, development program and projects need to be designed and implemented well.
