To ensure that the plans of local government units are budget-ready and that their projects are Gender and Development responsive (GAD), the Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD) conducted a series of provincial workshops from May to June 2018.
The “Provincial Workshop on Comprehensive Development Plan/Local Development Investment Program Assessment, GAD Responsive Project Brief Formulation, and Qualities of Implementation-Ready Projects” sought to orient Municipal/City Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs) and City/Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (C/MPDOs) on assessing local plans according to the content, form, and process prescribed by the CDP Guidebook.
It also sought to capacitate LGUs on the formulation of GAD-responsive project brief based on the indicators of the Revised Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG).
DILG 10 also invited representatives of national agencies involved in the FY 2018 Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Municipalities Program (LGSF-AM). The agencies presented the qualities of implementation-ready projects that will serve as basis for the endorsement of projects to their respective central offices for funding.
“By inviting the national agencies in this workshop, we wish to bring them closer to the LGUs. This will enable them to directly ask questions, or to raise any concerns or clarifications should there be any,” said SLGP-AM Program Manager Richard L. Villacorte.
The first batch of the Provincial Workshop was conducted on May 7-8, 2018 for Bukidnon. This was followed by the Misamis Occidental workshop on May 9-10. The workshop for Lanao Del Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin was conducted on May 22-23, 2018, June 4-5, 2018, and June 6-7, 2018, respectively.
As of press time, the Regional Program Coordinating Team has been conducting a post-activity analysis of workshop outputs. This is to further come up with strategies that will assist LGUs in the preparation of aligned local plans.
