May 26, 2018 – The Department of the Interior and Local Government – Misamis Occidental, in partnership with its Local Resource Institutes (LRIs) successfully concluded the Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (SKMT) for the newly elected SK chairpersons and councilors in Misamis Occidental on May 17-26, 2018.

     The SK Mandatory Training in the said province was organized and conducted through the efforts of the DILG and its partner LRIs namely Dr. Solomon U. Molina College (DSUMC), Oroquieta City; Misamis University, Ozamiz City; and Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSC), Tangub City.

     The said training has four (4) clustered training centers that accommodates more than 3,300 SK officials, particularly, at the Function Hall of Capitol Building, Oroquieta City; Function Hall of Misamis University; Auditorium of Misamis University, Ozamiz City; and Legarda Hall of Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSC), Tangub City.

     The SKMT has five (5) modules, namely: (i) Decentralization and Local Governance, (ii) SK History and Salient Features, (iii) Meetings and Resolutions, (iv) Planning and Budgeting, and (v) Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards. The training was designed to develop the competence of the participants to perform their powers and functions as SK officials.
